Colors Magazine launches The Sea issue and joins the iPad wave
15 May 2010
There are millions of truths and millions of myths about the sea. There would be endless stories to tell and many ways to do so.
COLORS magazine has decided to pay homage to the sea by exploring its relationship with humans, as whether someone was born on an island or in a desert, whether the word ‘sea’ even exists in their language, the sea belongs to everyone.
With a foreward by Folco Quilici, a well-known Italian filmmaker, documentarian and journalist, COLORS 77 The Sea is not only about telling stories.
By taking seven people to see the sea for the first time and documenting that very special moment, COLORS takes part in their lives. In this interactive issue, Augmented Reality (AR) takes the magic further, allowing readers to reveal the full story behind the photos in the magazine by simply pointing them towards a webcam. Combining reality with the virtual, COLORS 77 encourages readers to explore the intimate bond between our destinies and that of the oceans.
Coinciding with the Italian market launch of iPad, COLORS is throwing open the doors to a new era in publishing: the first issue of the magazine, which sold out years ago, will in fact be available to all those who liked it or have heard about it. A little girl being born symbolically represented the dramatic arrival of a new magazine on the publishing scene: COLORS n°1 marked the start of an adventure, somewhere between journalistic reporting and revolutionary graphics, introducing a new way of communicating via a magazine. COLORS n°1 will be the first of a series of issues downloadable from the Apple Store from May 2010.
